The Australian Rugby community is today mourning the passing of former Test Referee, Carl Collett.

One of Australia’s first match officials to be appointed under the ‘neutral’ referee system, Collett took charge of the 1981 clash between New Zealand and Scotland at Eden Park during the sides tour of New Zealand.

Collett also refereed 176 First Grade matches in the NSW Shute Shield, making him the fifth most capped First Grade referee in NSW Rugby history.

In addition to this, Collett also officiated in several suburban and junior fixtures within the Sydney Rugby community.

Collett’s unwavering contribution to the Rugby community is one which will not be forgotten.
