Description
Assemble a grid within a larger grid and divide participants into two teams, 'Attackers' and 'Defenders'. ‘Attackers’ each carry a ball and jog clockwise within the smaller grid whilst the defending team jogs anti-clockwise around the outside of the larger grid. On the Coach's signal, the ‘Attackers’ must leave the smaller grid and attempt to score a try by exiting the larger grid before being tagged by a ‘Defender’. If tagged, the ‘Attacker’ joins the ‘Defenders’. Repeat the process until all ‘Attackers’ have been tagged before swapping teams.
Equipment
- 16 x cones
- 1 x ball per attacker
Coaching Outcome
Participants develop spatial awareness, agility and learn to move confidently in this fun and competitive evasion game.
Change It
- Alter the size of the grid.
- On the signal, "swap", participants change direction.
Check for Understanding
- What part of the body should we look at when tagging an opponent?
- How should we hold the ball when running with it?
- What can we do to ensure that we do not run into other participants?
