Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach – Brumbies Senior Academy

The Brumbies Academy is seeking an experienced Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, to support the physical preparation program of the Academy and the Brumbies Under 20s; to ensure sustained on-field success.

The role will have responsibility for developing athletes across all areas of physical preparation, with a specific focus will be coaching athlete strength, power development, as well as driving best practice in injury rehabilitation and prevention.

 

This role will be responsible for:
  • The Strength & Conditioning coaching for the Senior Academy and the Brumbies U20s
  • Attend training plan meetings with Head Coach, Head S&C of Pathways and Pathways Physiotherapist to ensure any medical and training modifications are made
  • Deliver and coach gym-based strength and power sessions pre or post field
  • Plan, deliver and coach all prep to train sessions including a speed and acceleration program
  • Monitor infield sessions through live GPS
  • Deliver identified athletic performance top ups post field
  • Lead the athletic development of Brumbies Under 20s during the annual Rugby AUs U20s competition (February ~4 weeks).

 

The commitment would be:

Pre-season (November - April)

Mondays: 3pm - 7pm

Tuesdays: 3pm - 7pm

Thursdays: 3pm - 7pm

In-season (April - August)

Mondays: 3pm - 7pm

Tuesdays: 3pm - 5:30pm

Thursday: 3pm - 5:30pm

 

 Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to the pursuit of excellence
  • Strong skills in athletic strength and power development
  • Knowledge of data reporting technology
  • Elite Rugby or high-performance program experience
  • Strong association with elite rugby or sport
  • Ability to align the physical requirements of the game with the vision of the Head Coach
  • High level of technical and coaching knowledge
  • Proven program judgement and quality decision making capability

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Exercise Science (or like degree)- post graduate qualification desirable
  • Industry standard qualifications - have, be working towards or be willing to undertake ASCA accreditation.
