  • Build, strengthen and manage critical media and stakeholder relationships across TV, radio, print, digital media and emerging platforms.
  • Identify and engage targeted media outlets both within and beyond sport to broaden event reach and diversify audience segments.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider World Rugby and Australian Rugby Communications teams to maximise promotional opportunities and maintain message alignment.
  • Create and execute integrated earned and owned media campaigns that support the tournament’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop high-quality written content, including media releases, talking points, briefing notes, and event communications.
  • Work with PR, RWC 2027 Ambassadors and media agencies to plan and deliver milestone events such as One Year to Go and 100 Days to Go.
  • Drive the development of compelling narratives and storytelling that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Assist in managing issues and media inquiries.
  • Oversee media monitoring, insights generation, and reporting to track performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to organisation-wide messaging for internal and external use, ensuring clarity, alignment, and strong brand consistency.

About you:

You’ll bring strong communications and PR experience, a solid understanding of the Australian media landscape, and the ability to manage multiple campaigns and stakeholders confidently. You’ll have proven experience delivering high-impact media activity for major events, along with excellent writing, organisation, and relationship-building skills. You’re a proactive self-starter who works well under pressure, collaborates easily, and stays grounded and adaptable. Flexibility to travel and support out-of-hours activity is essential as the tournament approaches.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 5 -7 years’ experience in a similar communications or PR role, either in-house or agency-side, with relevant qualifications in communications, journalism or similar fields.

  • Strong planning, organisation and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • Well-established media contacts across Australia and a proven track record of generating strong, consistent media coverage.
