About the Opportunity

As the Product Manager – Rugby Analytics, you will lead a small team of data analysts and engineers, deliver the analytics strategy, and ensure that the analytics requirements across the organisation are met. You will retain hands on technical accountabilities and identify new opportunities to improve the organisation through data.

In this leading role, you will bring an extensive amount of experience in Data & Analytics. You will create a roadmap for Data & Analytics for the organisation, encouraging contributions from key stakeholders including the Heads of Departments and key external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analytics Leadership
  • Deliver the data strategy across the whole game, including Community Rugby, Commercial, and High-Performance teams.
  • Ensure our data and analytics technology stack remains at the forefront of the industry, allowing us to scale comfortably to cater for larger and more datasets.
  • Mentor data analysts embedded in each department, to ensure they can uncover actionable insights from our data.
  • Manage project roadmap and prioritisation to ensure full visibility on team’s workload and priorities.
  • Administer our Tableau Online ecosystem which acts as one stop shop for Rugby’s analytics needs.
  • Own relationship with our Analytics software and data providers.
  • Provide regular insights to all units and levels of the organisation.
  • Management of budget to cater for data and analytics across the organisation.

Project & Line Management

  • Owner of Data & Analytics project in Jira, driving an agile methodology with the team and wider organisation (Scrum).
  • Manage team of data analysts, data engineers and data scientists, fostering a team mentality within a cross-functional team.

General Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal, written and visual.
  • Ability to initiate, monitor and review projects and activities in line with team plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work proactively and unsupervised, with the drive and vigour to constantly strive for improvement.
  • Keen interest and understanding of Rugby Union (desired).
