Sales Manager – Rugby Australia

Rugby Australia (Rugby AU) the governing body of Rugby Union in Australia, is looking for a strong Sales Manager to work in the Commercial Department. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer this role will manage, lead, and deliver Rugby AU sales program to achieve revenue targets.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Achieve annual budgeted revenue targets
  • Work with Chief Commercial Officer to design and implement sales strategies that deliver the very best value propositions to prospective partners, in consultation with Rugby AU 3rd party sales agents
  • Deliver incremental sales revenues with maximum profitability across all Rugby AU assets such as all our Teams in Gold, Community, Pathway, Sevens, Super Rugby, and Super W competitions
  • Drive lead generation and conversion of new sales as prioritized with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
  • Drive innovation via the creation and delivery of new inventory and assets to maximize revenue
  • Develop best in class written, audio and video sales tools and proposals to ensure Rugby AU’s values, brand and rights on offer are well presented to prospective new partners in the marketplace
  • Work with CCO to ensure best in class Rugby AU sales capability and reputation in the marketplace
  • Work strategically with other departments and external agents to improve and formalize knowledge of customer interests to increase sales and create sustainable and profitable long-term relationships
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of the domestic marketplace to identify and deliver new category partnerships for Rugby AU business units
  • Work with Head of Commercial on incumbent partner renewals across Rugby AU’s business units
  • In conjunction with Finance, manage appropriate financial records and reporting

To be successful you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-10 years’ domestic sales experience in Sport, Media, Agency, or Brand environments and in key markets, including Digital Advertising, Stadiums, Broadcasters and Sales Agencies
  • Proven track record of sales performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commercial astuteness
  • Drive to succeed and gain results

  • Can do attitude and be a self-starter
  • Solution driven capability to overcome issues
  • Demonstrated excellence in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Digital exposure and understanding with Salesforce (CRM)
  • A strong reputation and extensive connections within the commercial sports landscape and Brand network within Australia
  • Budget management experience
