Strategy Manager

Purpose

The Strategy Manager plays a key role in supporting Rugby Australia’s strategic priorities by owning and progressing critical strategic projects end-to-end. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organisation, the role provides high-quality analysis, structured thinking and clear recommendations to support the Executive and Board decision making. This position is well suited to candidates with a background in management consulting or corporate strategy who are looking to apply their skills in a purpose-driven, complex environment.

Key Accountabilities
  • Own priority projects end-to-end, including scoping, analysis, development of options, recommendations and delivery of high-quality outputs.
  • Provide well-structured analysis and advice to senior leaders through research, scenario modelling, data evaluation and synthesis of complex information.
  • Develop clear, compelling insights that translate complex issues into practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across all parts of the organisation to coordinate inputs and progress strategic priorities.
  • Support strategic planning processes to ensure alignment and momentum across Rugby Australia.

Capabilities & Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in management consulting, corporate strategy or a comparable strategy-led environment, with exposure to complex, high-impact problem solving.
  • Experience working on strategy engagements involving market analysis, business case development, strategic options assessment and executive-level recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses, analyse quantitative and qualitative data, and synthesise insights into clear narratives.
  • Proven experience preparing high-quality executive and Board-ready presentations, briefing materials and written recommendations.
  • Experience working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, supporting decision-making in fast-paced, high-expectation environments.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
