The Rugby World Cup Australia Local Operating Company (LOC) is searching for three Team Services Managers to join our team!

Under the guidance of the Senior Team Services Manager, the Team Services Managers will be responsible for the communication and relationship management with the 24 Participating Teams at Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027. These positions play a vital role in contributing to the successful delivery of the operational and logistical arrangements for the Teams, while also balancing and championing the needs of the Teams.

About the role

  • Act as the main point of contact for a dedicated allocation of six (6) Teams during their preparation and participation in the tournament, keeping track of all communication, managing requests, and ensuring smooth and efficient flow of information between the LOC and Teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships that inspire trust and confidence with Team Managers
  • Ensure that Teams are kept up to date with planning and required deadlines through regular and appropriate communication
  • Work with the Teams to ensure compliance with the key deliverables of the Terms of Participation
  • Input into core Team and tournament documentation and meetings, including Team Bulletins and Handbooks, the Terms of Participation, Team Manager Meetings, policies and procedures and contingency plans
  • Ensure clear communication with the Team Base Operations Manager on planning related to training facilities and management of Team training schedules
  • Close collaboration with internal Functional Areas responsible for delivering services to Teams, ensuring all requirements are met and delivered on time, and act as the central Team Services point of contact on specific subject matters
  • Schedule, facilitate and attend Team Site Visits in Australia (valid drivers licence is required)
  • Support with the scheduling of and arrangements for tournament activities such as Team Welcome Ceremonies, content capture sessions and Team community engagement initiatives
  • Support the recruitment, training and tournament-time deployment of Team Liaison Officers, Assistant Team Liaison Officers and Interpreters
  • Assist with the project management process and provide timely reporting
  • Assist in the processing and payment of project costs and invoices and maintain accurate tracking for post-tournament reconciliations
  • Provide excellent support to the Teams and Team Services FA during the tournament – managing daily communication and ensuring effective issue reporting, management and resolution
  • Contribute to the development of the Team Services FA knowledge transfer post-tournament reports

  • You have experience and demonstrated success in working with elite athletes at an international level
  • You have meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask
  • You are an excellent communicator, highly personable and can build strong relationships quickly
  • You are adept at working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality work to deadlines and honouring commitments
  • You have a positive attitude and are resilient, flexible and delivery focussed
  • You are flexible to work irregular hours and able to travel at times
  • You possess great integrity, have a passion for sport and desire to contribute to the successful delivery and legacy of Men’s RWC 2027
  • You have a proven track record of working in an international environment with considerations for multiple cultures and language

Rugby World Cup is one of the biggest sporting and entertainment brands in the world and the dual men’s and women’s hosting model creates a transformative opportunity to showcase the very best of rugby and Australia to an unprecedented global audience.

RWC 2027 tournament will be a nationwide celebration of the sport, its values and Australia’s cities, culture and people, engaging new audiences and inspiring a new generation of fans and players. In Australia, the tournament is expected to generate $1.3B in direct visitor expenditure across Australia from more than 250,000 international visitors and inject a further $80m into the Australia economy as a result of hosting in 2027 alone.

Whilst the LOC has carriage of both the 2027 and 2029 RWC’s, all roles are being recruited on the basis of working to deliver 2027, with a contract end date reflective of the successful conclusion of 2027. All roles within the LOC will be reviewed at the appropriate point in time to determine whether they will be extended to cover 2029 and to suit the needs of the business at that time.

Flexible working

The role offers hybrid working during the initial phases of planning, noting that as the event draws near the role will be required to be full time in the office integrating with the rest of the team. The current planning is based on:

  • 3 x core office days – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • 2 x flexible days, where you can work from home if you prefer (Monday & Friday)
