Talanoa is a widely use Pan-Pacific research methodology that promotes a culturally safe and appropriate environment to share ideas, stories, skills and experiences.
During 2023, The RA Pasifika Working group had drafted a Pasifika Strategy. It was important to the group that the strategy went through a community consulation process to ensure the voice of Pasifika people were heard and the strategy was culturally informed.
Rugby Australia conducted 10 Talanoa sessions across the country to engage with Pasifika communities in and outside of Rugby on the strategy. In consultation with Talanoa Consultancy, the data collected from each Talanoa has been reviewed and final recommendations have been made.
These recommendations will inform the final version of the Pasifika strategy, due to be released in 2024.
