Rugby Australia has today announced Brisbane will host two key fixtures in the 2020 Qantas Wallabies Test calendar.

Suncorp Stadium will play host to Wallabies Test matches against Ireland and New Zealand as the men in gold launch into a new era.

The clash with Ireland sets up a mouth-watering rematch of the 2018 fixture at the same venue, where the Wallabies opened the three-Test series with a victory over the then-Six Nations and Grand Slam champions.

The July 4 clash will be the first outing of the new year for the Wallabies and will be the first Test of a two-match series against Ireland on their 2020 tour of Australia.

A second blockbuster Queensland fixture for 2020 will see the Qantas Wallabies and New Zealand All Blacks square off in their third and final Bledisloe Cup clash for the year on October 17.

The Wallabies will host two Bledisloe Cup Tests in the three-Test series in 2020, with the Suncorp Stadium clash to be the final Test on home soil before the team departs for its Spring Tour of Europe.

Rugby Australia Chief Executive, Raelene Castle said: “Suncorp Stadium has been the venue for some of the most memorable Wallabies Test matches in recent years and the stage is set for two more high-quality Test matches in 2020.

“Brisbane knows how to put on a great show and the Wallabies always have outstanding support every time they come to town. The Wallabies have a strong record at Suncorp Stadium, and it is no wonder that it is one of the favourite venues for our players.”

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said rugby fans would be delighted that Suncorp would host two of the Wallabies’ matches in 2020.

“Fellow World Cup quarterfinalists Ireland and the All Blacks in the third Bledisloe Cup match are good gets for local tourism operators,” Ms Jones said.

“The Queensland Government supports major events like the Wallabies because they attract visitors and create jobs in the local tourism sector.”
