For the second consecutive year, the Queensland Reds are Next Gen 7s champions after taking out both the NSW Waratahs and ACT Brumbies.

In the final round at Warringah Rugby Club on Sunday, the Reds defeated the Waratahs 36-19 in the series-final.

The Waratahs who finished the regular season rounds on top of the table were unable to stave off a fast-finishing Reds team in the finals.

1st. Waratahs - 26 match points

2nd. Reds - 20 match points

3rd. Brumbies - 14 match points

Finals Results (Round 4)

NSW Waratahs 14-24 Queensland Reds

Queensland Reds 24-17 ACT Brumbies

NSW Waratahs 26-17 ACT Brumbies

Head of Women's Pathways Lachlan Parkinson said:

"It has been an incredibly successful four rounds of Sevens Rugby where we have seen a plethora of young talented athletes grow and develop their skills.

"Moving the series this year to align with the SVNS World Series has been beneficial as it has given the nationally contracted players who are not travelling on the curcuit a chance to keep fit and hone their skills in a competitive format.

"I would like to congratulate the Queensland Reds on their back-to-back series wins and to the seven women who were named in the team of the series."
