Australia A is set to face the USA Eagles in a two-match series in October.

The team will face the Eagles on October 25 (AEST) in Nashville, heading to New Jersey six days later to play at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

It serves as a valuable hit-out for both teams, giving Wallabies hopefuls a chance to impress before the northern leg of the Nations Championship.

Meanwhile, it ramps up the preparation for the USA ahead of their return to the World Cup in 2027.

The matches will be played as doubleheaders alongside the USA Women's team, which is set to play Italy and England.

The Australians have already locked in their coaching staff, with ACT Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham named as head coach earlier this month.

He will be joined by outgoing Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt and Force coach Simon Cron as his assistants.

The Australia A team last featured in Japan in 2025, claiming a comprehensive 71-7 win over Japan XV.

“We are excited to send an Australia A squad to Nashville and New Jersey  for two matches against the USA Eagles in October led by experienced coaches Stephen Larkham, Simon Cron and Joe Schmidt to the USA,” RA Director of High Performance, Peter Horne, said.

“The USA posted a strong win over Samoa last September to qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia and will provide good competition for our players pushing for Wallabies selection ahead of an important year for the game in our country.”

Meanwhile, it's the first time the USA will face an Australian team since their match against the Wallabies in 2015 as part of a World Cup warm-up.

"USA Rugby is excited to showcase USA Eagles' energy in new cities across the United States this October,” said USA Rugby CEO Bill Goren.

“We're thrilled to host the WXV Global Series home games in Texas, Tennessee, and New Jersey, and welcome international powerhouses Italy and England for some exciting action.

"Furthermore, as part of two doubleheader events, the USA Men’s Eagles taking on Australia XV will add to the excitement as fans get the chance to experience top tier rugby on US soil as we prepare for the 2031 and 2033 Rugby World Cups."
