Cat and Mouse
Description
Group participants in pairs, with one participant the 'Cat', and the other, the 'Mouse'.
Using cones, assemble a variety of shapes e.g. square, rectangle, triangle, and assign a shape to each pair.
On the Coach's signal, participants move around the outside of the shape with the 'Cat' attempting to catch the 'Mouse'.
Equipment
- 24 x cones
Coaching Outcome
Participants develop their footwork, agility and movement in this fast-paced activation game.
Change It
- Develop ball familiarity by asking the ‘Mouse’ to carry a rugby ball in two hands at all times.
- Assemble unconventional shapes that require participants to make multiple direction changes.
- On the signal, "swap”, participants change roles with the 'Cat' becoming the 'Mouse', and the 'Mouse' becoming the 'Cat'.
Check for Understanding
- What part of the body does the ‘Cat’ need to watch to have the best chance of catching the ‘Mouse’?
- What part of our feet should we use to be as agile as possible?
- What are the benefits of having ‘quick feet’ when playing Rugby?
