The Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens team have finished the Hamilton Sevens in fourth position after falling to France in a tough Bronze Medal match on Sunday afternoon.
Australia made it to the Semi Finals after topping the Pool in a winner takes all scenario with no quarter finals in Hamilton after the Aussies accounted for the USA 19-14.
Australia fell in the Semi Finals to a rampant Canadian outfit who scored two late tries to take control of the game and was unable to hold back a confident French outfit to miss out on a podium finish.
The Aussie 7s will return home ahead of the HSBC Sydney 7s at Bankwest Stadium next weekend. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens Head Coach, John Manenti said: “I was impressed with the character of the Squad this weekend, but we were disappointed we couldn’t finish the job in our last two matches.
“Ellia Green had one of her best performances in the gold jersey this weekend and the form she continues to consistently find is a sign of how she’s growing every time she plays.
“We’ll get into our recovery and get ready for our home tournament at Bankwest Stadium next weekend. This team loves playing at home and we are looking forward to the week ahead.”
