Queensland Reds Academy- Athletic Performance

The Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) is rugby’s governing body in Queensland and is responsible for leading the growth, sustainability, and success of rugby in the state in collaboration with Rugby Australia (RA).

The QRU are seeking an Academy Athletic Performance Coach, who will report into the Queensland Reds Head of Talent Management to ensure the development and optimisation of physical qualities for all Queensland Reds Academy players.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the Athletic Development program throughout the Reds’ Academy (u15-U20s+)

  • Design and deliver all elements of athletic performance for the Reds Academy Program
  • Utilise GPS to prescribe and analyse training loads
  • Work closely with the Reds/RA Performance staff to ensure long term development plans are in place for all players
  • Design and implement the reconditioning and return to performance programs
  • Provide athletic performance support for the major rugby schools in Queensland

2. Manage the testing and data collection for all relevant physical tests

  • Collate all physical testing data for the Academy based on Rugby Australia guidelines

3. Support the Queensland Reds Program

  • Where practical, support the Queensland Reds senior program

4. Support the National program

  • Where practical, attend preparation camps for national junior programs

Preferred Prerequisites

  • Human Movement/Exercise/Sports Science Degree
  • ASCA Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • ASCA PCAS - Elite Coach
  • Prior professional sporting experience in athletic performance
