Rugby Australia and the Qantas Wallabies will throw their support behind drought relief at tonight’s Bledisloe Cup trial at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney.
The clash, which is free to attend, will have collection buckets roaming the stands with the money raised going to aid Australia’s struggling farmers.
Player jerseys will also be signed and distributed to Rugby Clubs in the bush to auction off throughout the year.
Members of the Qantas Wallabies and the Rugby community will be on hand to man the donation buckets with Rugby Australia and the Australian Rugby Foundation to match the total donation amount from Friday night dollar-for-dollar.
Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle said: “We are really keen to help Australia’s farmers in any way possible as well as help support our Rugby Clubs in the bush.
“We know that Rugby Clubs are the heart of many farming communities so we want to do all we can to make sure we’re helping them in this really challenging time. “It’s going to be a great night with plenty of activities for the kids, a raffle draw generously donated by We Love Rugby as well a top shelf game and best of all, it’s all for free.
“So I encourage everyone to come on down to Leichhardt in Sydney, and yes it’s a gold coin donation but we’d rather you donate notes in the buckets to help our friends in need,” Castle said.
Fans will be welcome to ‘Take to the Turf’ following full-time at Leichhardt Oval before getting up close and personal with their favourite players.
The Bledisloe Cup trial will kick off at 6.45pm AEST at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney’s inner west with the game live streamed on RUGBY.com.au
The Bledisloe Cup trial has also partnered with ‘We Love Rugby’, Australia's largest and most respected rugby tour operator, and will offer a special raffle for all attendees on Friday night.
Each attendee will enter the draw to win two tickets to the third Bledisloe Cup clash of 2018 in Tokyo, Japan as well as flights and accommodation.
Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 Bledisloe Cup in Sydney as well as Mitsubishi Estate Rugby Championship Test matches in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. For tickets, visit ticketek.com.au.
