Turtle Flip
Description
Group participants in pairs with one participant lying flat on their stomach on the ground with their partner kneeling next to them.
On the Coach's signal, the participant kneeling must attempt to flip their partner onto their back whilst the participant lying on their stomach must resist being flipped over.
Equipment
- No equipment required
Coaching Outcome
Participants develop an understanding of how to position and move their body to generate resistance and force in this safe and fun introduction to contact.
Change It
- Set a time limit and see how many participants can resist being flipped onto their back.
- Rather than attempting to flip their partner over, see if participants can move their partner in other ways to outside a designated area.
- Ask participants lying on the ground to hold a ball. Once the participant is flipped over, require their partner to stand up and steal the ball.
Check for Understanding
- Why is it important to practice contact?
- How can we use our body to flip our partner on to their back?
- How can we use our body to resist being flipped on our back?
