Continuous Passing
Description
Assemble a grid with three balls placed up one side of the grid approximately five metres apart and divide participants into groups of three.
On the Coach's signal, participants move up the grid picking up each ball and passing it down the line to the other side of the grid where it is placed on the ground.
Once the participants reach the end of the grid, they turn around and repeat the process, passing the ball down the line in the opposite direction to which they started.
Equipment
- 9 x cones
- 3 x balls per group
Coaching Outcome
Participants learn to form a ‘W’ with their hands when catching the ball, and to point their hands towards their target when passing in this fun catch and pass game.
Change It
- Swap the direction in which participants pass the ball (e.g. from left to right, or right to left).
- Alter the distance between participants to focus on longer or shorter passes.
Check for Understanding
- Where do our hands need to finish when we pass the ball?
- What shape do our hands need to make when catching the ball?
- What can we do to pass the ball a longer distance?
