Try Time Rugby Rush
Description
Assemble a grid and select up to three participants to be ‘Taggers’. The remaining participants line up along one line of the grid with a ball, and on the Coach's signal "Rugby Rush", attempt to move through the grid and score a try without being tagged. If tagged, the participant loses their ball and joins as a ‘Tagger’. The game continues until all participants have been tagged.
Equipment
- 12 x cones
- 1 x ball per participant
Coaching Outcome
Participants develop spatial awareness, agility, and learn to move confidently into space in this fun evasion game.
Change It
- Each turn, give responsibility to one of the ‘Taggers’ to call “Rugby Rush”.
- Rather than running, introduce different movement patterns e.g. skipping or hopping.
- Alter the size of the grid.
Check for Understanding
- What part of the body should we look at when tagging an opponent?
- What can we do to ensure that we do not run into other participants?
- How do we score a try?
